"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

The Leaf season

While the rest of the country is still sweltering in summer’s heat,
the Pacific Northwest Coast is falling gently into Autumn.

Wood is being stock-piled.

Mist has begun to visit on a regular basis;

and the leaves on the oh-so-many trees around us
are starting to turn into spectacular flaming hues of orange rust, yellow and red.

It's not officially Autumn until the end of September,
but these are most definitely spell binding moments in time.
The season of the leaf, for us, has begun.
Spectacular!
