"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

The Green Corn Moon shone in my window to awaken me at 4am this morning.
And,
since I didn’t get to sleep 'til well after one, I'm a bit delirious at the moment.

Whilst watching my celestial neighbor,
I noticed that it looked slightly more sedate than usual even though it was very bright.
So, all considered, I did a little research on-line to confirm my observation.
Sure enough, tonight, August 25th, the moon will be at apogee.
For those who don‘t know,
apogee is the farthest the moon gets from earth in a single year.
 Or
to put it in perspective, 252,518 miles (406,389 kilometers) away.
It officially turns full at 1:05 p.m. ET today.

And there you have it.
(yawn)
It’s nearly 6am.
Maybe I’ll try to get back to sleep.
Good morning!
