"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

Off the grid

Well here it is at last. I knew this day would come. I could feel it for some time now. I’ve reached the point where I want absolutely nothing to do with the grid. Yes, that’s right. The Grid: anything and everything to do with a computer; telephone; television… you get the picture. It’s been like a monster closing-in. And it’s just all too much!

Maybe I am just tired. Or maybe I’ve finally just had enough. All these necessities are warping my mind. So, I’ve decided to turn it all off and go back to the way it was intended before we all went mad.

In my life, there is a blue house surrounded by trees, a faithful companion, and the man I love. I can hear the ocean as I putter about in my garden. This is where I’ll be for the next few days: off the grid.

See you all again on the other side of this holiday ………..Be happy. Be safe.
