"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

Helloooo?

So, I was talking with Ilva about the adventures we’ve had since moving to this fantasy-land, and she asks, tongue-in-cheek, “Aren’t you afraid of coming across any bears in those mountains you hike in?” Well Ilva…. I wasn’t.

Matter of fact, the Dude was driving along Pacific Coast Highway the other day, near Sparrow Park Road, and a black bear ran out in front of him hauling, you-know-what, across to the other side.
I have a feeling the Dude’s adrenalin shot clean off the chart!

Maybe I’ll just stick to sand and surf from now on.
