"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

From another room....

Katty

While she could be my daughter in age, she has become my friend. We’ve shared in each other’s lives, from a distance, across the nearly two years that we have been looking in one another’s windows. I would miss her were she to stop writing. Were she to stop journaling. Were she to stop blogging.

I look forward to watching her children grow. I look forward to going to Salerno to get a bite of Sushi; and I love the walks along the streets of Prague especially when it snows. I’ll sit with her, sometimes, on the verandah overlooking the Amalfi coast and just dream of days gone by………..many, many years ago.

She allows me to share in days that are special to her and her family - and of course, in Italy - every little reason is an opportunity to celebrate life.

As we near the end of another year, we are reminded that life is fragile. That it is paper thin and can tear apart at any time. We don’t always marvel at the wonderment of what surrounds us because that would mean that we would have to slow down. And isn’t it a pity that we must reach a point of being ’almost there’, to actually walk through this life so we can stop and look around ourselves. We tend to run toward a destination that’s not going anywhere, and certainly one that none of us wish to reach any time soon. So why run?

The spousal unit just called to me from another room, and said, “Angela, you should see the moon.” So I clicked on ‘save’, and went out the backdoor. He was right. The moon, in the remnant of the eclipse, is dominant and ‘in your face’ in the dawn of this new day.

Walk just a little slower, sit on the Verandah; make a new friend and enjoy a meal together; take a stroll, arm in arm, with someone you love; and breathe to the point of near suffocation at the magical wonder of it all.
