"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

a thankful moment......

He's kind and caring, and sees humor in most everything. He makes me laugh even when I don't want to.

He is my doctor when I forget to put on my gardening gloves, and a rose or bramble thorn embeds itself below the skin. He pulls out the irritant and cleans the wound to make it better, without my asking.

He is my therapist when I forget my way, and gives me the words that elude my fading memory.

When he is away, he calls to share his day and says I miss you even if the words are not audible.

He is sensitive, realistic and keeps me grounded.
He is the smartest person I know.
He is the one that holds me up when my knees buckle,
and the voice of reason when all else fails.

He is the only person I know who understands the all of me
and stands by my side, regardless.

He is my spousal unit.
He is the man I love.
He is the Dude.

There is never a day that goes by
that I don’t see and feel his love,
even if he doesn’t think I do.
