Today, I spent some time with Peggy, who introduced me to Bee Balm (Raspberry Wine). The plant, not the drink. This is a profusely blooming plant which is Perennial and Herbaceous. The flowers are rich in nectar, and attract butterflies and hummingbirds. I got it because it has beautiful burgundy-red blooms, and very fragrant. The aroma of the leaves remind me of a combination of rosemary and mint.
I planted it in my Secret Garden, along the Studio Wall, where, once established, will add a magnificent splash of color, complimenting the yellow roses and multi-colored Gladiolus which have already started to bloom.
The Hens and Chicks have found a home atop inverted Moss(bottom) and on a plate (top), and hang, for now, outside the Studio door.
Shirley has them growing on the roof of her birdhouses ~ something I plan to do as soon as I visit with her again. We were so engrossed in our conversations yesterday that I completely forgot to ask her how she gets her succulents to grow on wood.

I LOVE the hens and chicks idea! I also love bee balm- the fragrance is so intense- it was blooming in Winnies backyard while we were there and I was shocked at it! Cant wait to see in the secret garden!
"Funny thing...I have a garden...well, I planted a garden lol....but have a terrible time with squirrels and of course those nasty tomatoe worms. My point? I looked at your garden...your secret garden and loved it. Though I cant grow the same things here you gave me the inspiration to do more of a sitting area. With flowering plants :) So with the said I am off to work in mine as well. Its going to be insainly hot and humid here once again but will work til I cant breath anymore lol..."
