"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

Hello. It's me....

Finding your true nature is a little like knowing how to swim. When a great wave comes along, swim under it until it passes, then you can continue swimming unharmed. When you are determined to swim against the wave, you will be pushed and hurled back a great distance and you will never make headway.

So, when you think you’ve found yourself, go with patience and humility and keep the Almighty close, as you will never know who you are apart from God’s providence.

A few years ago, while beginning my spiritual journey, I came across an epiphany and stumbled over myself. Wow, I thought, who is this person?

At first, I only saw small glimpses, not recognizing who I was looking at. It took a few more years of diving under the wave and just going with the flow before I finally realized that this new person wasn’t new at all. This new person was my old self. My real self. And you know what? I was worth the wait!
