"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

There’s a party going on

...... and the wildness is mind boggling. I hear them tap dancing on the roof and at the window. Sliding and slathering along the streets and gardens, mucking up the flower beds and mashing down the grass with their silver liquid drops.

Oh wild and wonderful rain skipping in torrents, drenching and soaking everything in sight, I’ve had enough of you……..

empty your madness into the night if you must, but leave us thirsting in the new day.
