"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

FIVE STARS

I hardly know where to begin...
It took me a few chapters to get comfortable with the new boys. I knew I was in Skandia but my mind kept traveling back to Araluen, expecting, at any given turn of the page, to see Halt and Will again.
Of course, I didn’t.

This book is not about the Rangers but a new breed of warriors, who, under the scrutinizing eye of Erak, entice you into their world full of seafaring adventures and epic battles. It revolves around Hal, half Skandian/half Araluen, who is relegated to a group of castoffs who look to him for leadership as they train to become Viking warriors. If you enjoyed your journey with Halt and Will from the stories of Ranger’s Apprentice, trust me, you will not be disappointed with Hal and his sidekick Stig.

something to look forward to:
Brotherband Chronicles (Book 2)
The Invaders
Publication Date: 5/15/2012
