"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

Journal entry

Ocean Fest in Winchester Bay was a bust this year. It drizzled all week-end so not many people ventured outdoors. Me? I was in the yard getting the garden ready for a Rose Arbor - then hitched a ride to the festival with the dude and Oz whilst they went to the beach. It’s going to take more than a little misting to keep us indoors!
fun ride for the little ones...
I suppose

not much to do here,
so I walked around Salmon Harbor

So, now I'm being summoned to the table for a Sunday meal.
The dude slow-cooked a whole chicken with vegetables ...
garlic mashed potaotes, and
Riesling as an accompaniment.

Just doesn't get any better than this.
