"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

all she needed was love.....

When Spring came, I transplanted my root-bound pot-growing Rosemary into the ground, and was dismayed when I saw that she did not take the transplant as hoped. Sadly, her  needle-like leaves turned brown and became brittle. She shriveled and faded. Since I put her in an area by herself, as her type prefers space to grow tall and full, I thought, ‘Maybe she's lonely.’ So, I bought a six-pack of baby Nasturtiums and planted them all around her.
This was about two months ago. The Nasturtiums hugged Rosie right away, almost as if they knew what their mission was and, as you can see, Rosie got her color back and is thriving nicely alongside her new friends.
