"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

A new perspective with Four Stars

526 pages. I read them in a blink, and now that I am nearing the end of the series, I am yearning for more of Kendra and Seth. There is one more book remaining and then, if I want to see my friends again, I will have to reread the series. Oh, I am quite certain that I will be hearing ’voices’ summoning me back right away. But, while I wait for the final chapter, I will have myself other adventures.

Four Stars. But this time, it is from the adult point-of-view. As the characters age, so does their maturity and that of the storyline. What appeared to be inconsequential in the first three books is skillfully unfolding. There is a plot twist in this book that is very unexpected.

Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary opens the door, indeed, to the more mature reader of Fablehaven. Looking forward to Book Five: Keys to the Demon Prison.
