"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

Ah, the melody of decadence

These past two days have been glorious: a prequel to the summer that is waiting patiently.

I’ve been working in my Garden Rooms. They were all so neglected because the rain wouldn’t let-up long enough for a visit let alone an extended stay. But, now that all the pruning, raking, mowing, edging and all around clean-up is done, I’ll have some wondrous days ahead to sit outside and quietly contemplate the beauty of the many colorful flowers that are bursting open to greet the sun.

Today, during one of my rest periods, I sat on the deck, feet up on a wicker chair, and ate sweet watermelon slices, dreaming of the summer to come.

Memorial Day weekend is the portal to dulcet lazy days, long walks with Keith along the shoreline, fish on the grill, ice cold Sun-Tea, and a good book to read whilst sprawled out happily on a blanket at the beach.

Oh, and of course, Ozzy running laps through the water.....
