"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

scrap.ping

I must be missing something because I just don’t get it. Is it an age thing? Is that it? Am I just too out-of-the-loop to get excited about all the hullabaloo? My cousin is doing it here, here and here, and some of my friends in Italy are doing it too. But for real?

Ok, I admit some of the creations are creative, and with the right paraphernalia, I’m certain I could do just as well if not better. But that’s the point, isn’t it? It’s like, why should I buy a painting or photograph by someone else when I am just as capable if not better? But I for one, do not have the patience, let alone the tools so I look to those who have both, when I am so inclined.

I look at the beautiful creations my cousin thinks-up, and even though I say, ’I could do that myself’, I still float around her Etsy shop, and the blogosphere, ’looking’. Who knows, one of these days I’ll just go wild, and buy-up all kinds of handmade scrap thing.a.ma.jig.ees…..
