"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

Journal entry

Yesterday I was reminded, in a subtle manner, that I have been neglecting my blog. In retrospect, I suppose I have been rather lax in my musings. But what with the advent of Lady Spring (the days have been so joyous), I have been finding myself, more and more, on the outside rather than on the in.

Today Jacque Monti arrives. It has been an anticipating two weeks spent in preparation: getting his ‘bed’ ready and making certain his accommodations’ are comfortable. After all, we plan to make certain he is still here after we are long gone. That way the children will enjoy his company as well.

It’s early and the house still sleeps. Ron wants me to take a look at the fencing over at the builders’ in town as he will be putting up our picket fence next week, so I’ll be doing that today, after Jacque is all settled, of course. Then I’ll be laying down sacks of  pea pebbles to finish off the walk-way I carved out in the back so we don’t have to pick up the step stones anymore, every time we mow.
What a relief that will be.

The day is shaping-up, in my mind, and proves to be another sun felt one. I’m not sure if it’s all this wonderful fresh air that my system is not used to, ergo undergoing a bit of a resistance, but I’ve not been up to par. Something is off kilter.
I’ll have to keep an eye on myself, as it were.

Well, I do believe I’ll get a bit of reading in before coffee starts brewing and the day officially begins.

Ciao for now mes amis.
