"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

a new day

Awoke to roof-top frost this morning with temperatures hovering around the 30 degree mark. The house is a might nippy so I made a nice fire with some of the wood gathered from Sparrow Park Beach. I even brought my laptop computer downstairs, and am nice and cozy whilst in front of the roaring blaze, tapping on these keys.

Keith is in his Studio. And, having filled his stomach, taken care of business and deciding that chillin’ outside was just not his cup of tea this morning, Ozzi settled in ’his’ bed beneath the covers. So, with the spousal unit and Oz at bay, and the wind whistling through the chill of a new day, I am left to my own devices: a cup of steaming coffee, lit candles, my laptop, and a warm crackling fire.
