"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

Magic.....

Today, as I write this post, Veronica and Josh join together in Holy Matrimony. Why I am not with her is complicated without pointing out all the boring niggling errors of nuance that accompanies one’s life. I do have a habit of getting things not quite right. And, there’s the fact that some things in life just have a way of tripping us up. Yes, and then there’s that. Enough said.

Ah well.

Keith made his Texas-bound journey no worse for the wear, and is in the midst of the thick of it today as Veronica and Miliana prepare themselves for a new journey with a new man who is devoted to the both of them. They’ll commit. They’ll love. And, they’ll make the best of it together. Such is life.

On Monday, Keith, Miliana, Veronica and Josh will be boarding a jet en-route to Oregon where Keith and Miliana will drive the four hours home, and Veronica and Josh will begin their honeymoon on the magical coast of Oregon.

And so, as it turns out, I will be putting my arms around Veronica and Josh as newly-weds, after all,  in the quiet sanctity, comfort and graciousness that can only be called ‘home’.
