"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

cent' anni

There is another party going on at My Life Times, and as I look at the photos, I can hear the music and taste the wine. Antonio is fifty, and celebrates with family and friends alike.

There is laughter and reminiscing, children running amuck, and there’s some pretty serious grilling going on. But when the cake comes out all lit-up like the Fourth of July, I can almost hear Katty yelling – ‘Blow out the candles Antonio before the place burns down!’

I love Italian get-togethers: more food than one person could possibly eat; laughing until someone snorts or pees their pants; drinking wine; mamma giving papa dirty looks as he stares at the beautiful woman who came to the party with a cousin; drinking wine; dancing; cajoling; twenty different conversations going on at the same time; and oh, did I mention drinking wine?

What a great way to end fifty years! Buon' Compleanno Antonio, piu cento!!
