"For us, our house is not insentient matter—it has a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals, and solicitudes, and deep sympathies; it is of us, and we are in its confidence, and live in its grace and in the peace of its benediction. We never come home from an absence that its face does not light up and speak out its eloquent welcome—and we can not enter it unmoved."
—Mark Twain, 1896

The mask of fear

We all have a mask we hide behind. One that we feel conforms to the mainstream. Pleasing to look at and in agreement with what others want to hear. But is it really who we are? Or are we all just so conditioned to the desire of need that we have forgotten the desire of self?

Those that gravitate to the ‘mask’ are not those that God has put in our path. One who is close and dear to me said it best: “God sends us ONLY angels. Those that show us how we are, those that show us how we want to be, and those that show us how we don't want to be. If we respect them and love them, we can save ourselves………”
